Went to my Grandpa's yesterday for Father's day and hearing him (who has never before complained) about being old and how sad it is to look back and realize you're not fifteen anymore was... Scary. The purple Screen thing ! This helps. Paintchat is an older java application, the lastest java RunTimes have issues with it. So people who wish to paintchat need to install an older java version. For windows based computers 1.6.07 works fine. I have heard anything older then 1.6.10 works fine. For PC's you can download older versions of java from [link]

Thats all I know. Sorry i can't help you with Mac OS X
